Sunday 22nd August 2010 - Shenstone

Shenstone has gone quiet again today in terms of migrants, with no passage birds to report on either the north or south areas of my patch.

Along Heath Lane, 2 Yellowhammers and 3 Linnets were seen. 3 Common Buzzards were soaring over and a Little Owl was in its regular spot. In fact I managed to get a few photos of the Owl today and if anything the bird was too close in the scope when I managed to get an angle on it, so please excuse the vignetting.

Butterflies seen (other than the numerous Whites) were 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Holly Blue, 3 Common Blues and a Speckled Wood.

Little Owl - Shenstone, 22nd August 2010:

  1. Quietened down a touch here to Jason. Very noce Lttle Owl :-)

  2. The second one is my favourite.

  3. Thanks for the positive comments guys.

re. quietened down - Its funny really ..the patch has been quiet today but other local birders have been picking up Whinchats, Wheatears etc on there patches within say 10-15 miles of here...birding is funny like that
